What is Search Engine Optimisation?
Search Engine Optimisation, in its simplest terms, is the process used to improve a website’s visibility and ranking on search engine results pages (SERPs). SEO is not a quick fix — and anyone who tells you otherwise is probably trying to sell you something. It’s a long-term investment in visibility, credibility, and relevance. Done well, it’s one of the most cost-effective ways to attract the right audience to a website. Done poorly — or ignored altogether — it’s one of the most common reasons a great website gets very little traffic.
SEO in My Workflow
As a web designer and business support provider, SEO has always been part of the conversation. A website that looks great but can’t be found isn’t doing its job, and SEO should be considered from the start of a project and not be an afterthought. Over the years, I’ve developed a working knowledge of SEO that covers the technical, the creative, and the strategic — and this feature category is where I share what I’ve learned across those areas.
The BlueMoonCreative.Services portfolio includes sites and pages that rank on the first page of the search engines but that may be due to their niche nature – but I’ll take the win whatever the reason.
Keeping Up With a Moving Target
One of the challenges with SEO is that it never stands still. Search engine algorithms evolve, best practices shift, and what worked well a couple of years ago may be far less effective today. I don’t claim to have all the answers — but I do try to keep a close eye on what’s changing and how it applies in practice, which is exactly the kind of insight I’ll be sharing here.
